Beaches Peterborough Beaches

Description:

There are two City beaches open to the public for supervised swimming starting late June to the third week in August.

Beavermead Park - Ashburnham Drive
Rogers Cove - Maria Street

Both beaches will be supervised seven days a week from noon until 7:00 pm. A flag system is in place at the beaches to indicate the water quality. Description:

Beavermead Park is an active use regional park that is host to a number or major special events that include the Greater Peterborough Triathlon, soccer tournaments and major sporting .  The park contains a supervised public beach, six soccer fields, a large pavilion, picnic tables, a playground structure, slides and swings. benches, walking trails, and a creek running throughout the park. The park is the site of Beavermead Campground.

Del Crary Park Concert in the Park

Description:

The entrance to the park is located off of George Street, with lots of available parking. This is a waterfront park and is the location of Peterborough’s Marina.   The park is the host site to a variety of special events and activities.   The park itself has washrooms, benches, picnic areas, gardens and wonderful views of the lake and Peterborough Fountain. There is an interlocking brick trail, known as the Pathway of Fame, around the the park.   Del Crary Park is the site of Peterborough’s Festival of Lights concerts each summer.

Jackson Creek Kiwanis Trail

Description:

This 4 km section of the Trans-Canada trail follows alongside the Jackson Creek. It runs from Jackson Park to Ackison Road. Parking is available at Jackson Park.

Millennium Park Millennium Park

Description:

Millennium Park is located on the Otonabee River Trail and has a path of interlocking brick that continues throughout the park. This park plays host to a number of special events such as the the Greek Festival, Arts and Crafts shows and more. The Silver Bean Café is located in the park and offers visitors great snacks and refreshments. The park sits on the Otonabee River.

Parkway Trail

Description:

The trail travels between Jackson Park and the Peterborough Zoo for 4.2 km.

Rogers Cove

Description:

Roger's Cove is a waterfront park on Little Lake, located off Maria St.  The park contains a public beach that is supervised by a lifeguards in the summer months. The park has excellent parking, picnic tables, garbage cans, benches by the water. a playground structure, and men’s and women’s washrooms. The Trans-Canada Trail runs through the park with an information map located in the park.  Rogers Cove is connected to Beavermead Park by the trail.
Rotary Greenway Trail

Description:

A 20 km trail; this trail is enhanced with benches, historic, environmental and ecological signage. The south entrance is on Ashburnham Drive through the Ecology Park and the trail goes as far north as Trent University and can be accessed at numerous points.

Trent University Promise Rock Nature Area

Description:

This 2.4 km trail runs between the Otonabee River and an abandoned railway. Access is off River Road and parking is available north of the Environmental Sciences Building at Trent University.

Trent University Wildlife Sanctuary

Description:

This wildlife sanctuary is managed by Trent University and offers 3 different trails ranging in distance from 1.9 km – 2.9 km. These trails are located on the east side of University Road just south of Nassau Mills Road in Peterborough.

Wading Pools Wading Pools

Description:

The Recreation Division provides supervised wading pools at six different locations throughout the City. These pools are appropriate for young children. The wading pools operate late June to the fourth week in August and are supervised daily from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm, seven days per week.
